Rappi celebrates restaurants in Mexico with the Merit Award

Rappi became sponsor of the 2024 Restaurant Merit Award. The leading delivery services platform in Latin America, announced in a statement that it has “reaffirmed its commitment to the restaurant sector in Mexico” through the awards.

In its latest edition, the most prestigious award in the Mexican culinary sector had the support of Rappi. This distinction honors entrepreneurs and restaurants that have demonstrated “creativity, leadership, and culinary excellence.” The National Chamber of the Restaurant and Food Industry (CANIRAC) has awarded the prize for 33 years.

This year, Rappi plans to continue investing more than 100 million dollars in growth, fleet, and technology to ensure sustained double-digit growth. “We are doubling our efforts so that Mexico remains the absolute focus of our company. Our promise is clear: speed, efficiency, and an unwavering commitment to the success of all restaurants in Mexico,” said Iván Cadavid, CEO of Rappi Mexico. 

The national president of CANIRAC, Ignacio Alarcón, commented that “it is a source of pride to recognize the people who have made and make all this possible, chefs, traditional cooks, sommeliers, baristas, and employees. All of them are a fundamental part of our industry.”

Currently, the delivery platform has more than 100,000 active stores in the restaurant vertical. 40% are SMEs, which contributed more than 70 million pesos in sales in July 2024 alone. Through the official statement, Rappi affirmed that it demonstrates “its commitment to the development and growth of the restaurant industry in Mexico, supporting thousands of restaurants, entrepreneurs, and SMEs to achieve new goals.”

Today, the delivery channel accounts for 20% of restaurant industry sales, while before the pandemic it represented between 3 and 5%, according to CANIRAC data. According to the statement, “this emphasizes the value of this service in the economic growth of these businesses.”

Within the framework of the National Assembly of the Canirac and Abastur 2024, Rappi offered the annual meal of the National Chamber. Regarding the celebration of the assembly and the 2024 awards, Rappi highlighted its “commitment to the restaurant industry in Mexico and its role as a driver of positive transformation in local economies.”
