On September 13th, Pepsi launched its latest campaign, “Chase your pizza with a PEPSI”. In collaboration with advertising agency BBDO, the brand produced a series of videos featuring Pepsi “chase cars” hot on the trail of pizza delivery drivers.
The humorous stunt-filled ads aimed to boost Pepsi consumption by associating the iconic soda with the beloved pizza. In the videos, Pepsi-branded sports cars, driven by uniformed individuals, playfully pursued delivery drivers from Domino’s and other pizza chains. As the promotional tagline states, “Pizza tastes better followed by a Pepsi. So that’s what we did”.
In an official statement, Pepsi explained, “The acrobatic content highlights the thrill of the chase – the Pepsi chase – because pizza simply tastes better with Pepsi”. Jenny Danzi, Pepsi’s Brand Marketing Head, expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “we love the pizza and Pepsi combo so much that we launched a fleet of ridiculously powerful ‘Chase Cars’ to ensure no pizza is eaten without a Pepsi sidekick”.
To further enhance the campaign, Pepsi offered a limited-time promotion in the United States. Customers who purchased a 2-liter Pepsi were rewarded with a free pizza of any size from Pizza Hut, Little Caesars, or Papa Johns. This promotion was executed in partnership with food delivery service DoorDash.
“The ‘PEPSI Chase Cars’ are the latest creation from the brand’s #BetterWithPepsi platform, which is dedicated to proving that every meal, especially pizza, deserves a Pepsi,” the statement concluded.
