Home Depot Reaches 500 Volunteer Days Milestone

The Home Depot has conducted over 500 volunteer activities in Mexico so far in 2024. The goals of these efforts are to revitalize public spaces, promote decent housing, and support communities living in vulnerable situations.

Erika Díaz, Vice President of Online, Marketing, and Public Relations at The Home Depot Mexico, noted that this is possible thanks to the “Depot Teams.” “We are excited to see how associates from all our stores across the country are proactively involved in volunteer activities”, Díaz stated.

Since the home improvement chain arrived in Mexico in 2001, it has carried out 8,000 volunteer activities.

One of the “Depot Teams” projects was to improve the facilities of a school in the city of Monterrey. “It was very exciting that more than 100 associates from all the stores we have in Nuevo León donated their time and joined forces to improve the facilities of the Alfonso Martínez Domínguez Elementary School,” said the vice president. She added that “more than 200 students now enjoy better sports fields, common areas, and the main auditorium.”

The Home Depot Programs

Another of The Home Depot’s programs is the donation of merchandise and paint. Through the “Giving Back to the Community” initiative, the chain has donated 38 million pesos in-kind to improve the facilities of 250 community centers, schools, and non-profit institutions.

The company also invites its customers to join in supporting the community through other activities. For example, the “Do More for Others” collection, which in the first quarter of 2024 has raised 12.9 million pesos. The money has been given to “19 institutions that have programs to support people living in vulnerable situations”.

Through a statement, The Home Depot indicated that it also seeks to “fulfill the dream of 180 families of having a safe and dignified home”. To achieve this goal, the company has partnerships with non-profit organizations such as: TECHO Mexico, Building Comprehensive Communities, Habitat for Humanity, Zero Poverty, and Vive Mejor Foundation.
